Father's day is drawing near and that means a Father's day card.
I never really know if my Dad appreciates getting a card from all of us or not, but I'm still making one. Cuz he's my Dad and it's the right thing to do.
This year's card is all about the 'stache. Dad has had his 'stache since I was born. So it's been quite awhile. I'll just say over 3 decades and leave it at that.
I figured I might as well draw attention to it for once since the mustache is so popular lately.
So here we go. The Father's day mustache card.
Here's what you're going to need:
- White card (I'm using 5 x 6.5" card)
- Black cardstock
- Removable glue
- Red hearts (cardstock or stickers)
- Mustache die cut or sticker
- Computer, Printer (or letter stickers or stamps)
1. I decided instead of using stickers or stamps that I would print out my title onto my card. To do this you need to run a test on some scratch paper.
I broke out my handy dandy ruler to measure where I wanted to put my title on my card then set up the grid lines in Photoshop so I knew where to put my titles.
I used 3 text boxes and wrote my title words in them. a. Happy b. Father's and c. Day. I'm using the Rockwell font in different sizes.
p.s. You can see above that it took a couple tries for me to get it right. No worries. It's scratch paper and I'm not perfect.
2. Lightly glue down your card to the sheet of scratch paper. I used EZ repositional dots to glue down the edges of the card.
3. Once it prints out take the card off the paper and use your glue remover (your finger works too) and rub off the glue. Easy peasy.
4. Now because I felt like it needed something, I took two pens of different sizes and drew a large and small border slightly off the edge of the paper.
You could use a ruler too if you want it perfect. I didn't so I just free-handed it.
It makes it a bit fancier I think.
5. Next you want to add your mustache. I'm using a download I bought from Silhouette. You get 6 different types of mustaches. I used the one that most looks like my Dad's.
I made my mustache a little bigger than my type. I wanted the title to look like it was under the mustache not extended beyond.
6. Add your heart and you are done. (I used a Martha Stewart punch).
