Project Life 2012: Week 13

Yeah I finally have Week 13 done! It took me awhile because it was part of my vacation week and there were a ton of pictures to choose from! I mean a ton! I finally came up with a neat way of doing each day. I played with fonts, played with picture sizing and even did a little make a small picture into a big one.

Page 1

I used the 4-6x6 page protectors and split my items in half so I could get more on a page. The top part is the usual Week 13 section then I have my week in review section and on the bottom is a comic I drew for the IT guy at work.

In the top box I did a special section just about my vacation.

Top part in detail. I was looking for an reason to use that cloud paper. Thought it was appropriate and cute too.

The second part of page 1. I added a pictures from our plane with details of our flight and some washi tape with arrows.

The bottom is some pictures of Korby. I got to see him walk for the first time before I left. Too cute. He was pretty happy that he was walking. :)

Page two This is the start of the special sections for each day of my trip. We left Wednesday night, so Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Each day has a 2-part section.

So, Thursday we went to DisneyWorld. Part 1 of DisneyWorld is this small 6x8 page protector which has some journalling or a title on the left and a large 4x8 picture cut into two 4x4 sections on the right. Following this will be the baseball page protector section and another 6x8 page protector.

Here's the whole picture.

The bottom picture was originally a 4x4. All I did was crop it to a 4x12 picture. Then crop the whole picture into individual 4x4 sections. Easy peazy lemon squeezy.

Project Life 2012: Week 5

I realize that I am a week late in getting this post in but I've been a tad bit busy and it took me awhile to get this post done because I had SO many pictures to post through since I went on a trip with my Mom and sisters over that weekend. So this post is a bit bigger than usual. I might have gotten a bit carried away... :) (insert sheepish grin)

Page 1 and 2 represent everything that happened during the week except my trip. :) If you notice the black circles I had to block some stuff out that I can't show the entire planet. :)

Page 1: Week 5 - Sorry about the blackouts. I just couldn't post some of this on the web. Usually I don't censor but some things I have to. :)

Week 5. I liked using the raised dot paper because it was bright pink and I could rub black ink on the edges to make it stand out more. (I used pink because of the Delta Phi Scrappa scrap weekend.)

Loved this movie. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. I put stars by it to indicate my love of the movie and a rating. I will totally buy it.

This is the detail of the writing on the Sick section. The page protector is 6x12, so I put the 6x6 picture on the right side and put journalling on the left. I had to put the text conversation on there because I thought it was absolutely hilarious! Then I put the detail of the week on there as well.

Comic section. I didn't put it on because I copied someone else's work and didn't know who to credit so I didn't want to show it on my blog.

This is the journaling for the bottom column of pages. The "Fun Stuff" is an old Karen Russell phrase sticker and the "COMIC" is from October Afternoon 5 & Dime. I love them. There new stuff is the shit.

Page 2 of the week. Sorry it's blurry.

FOOD! I had to use this journaling page (from Smash)because it was so fitting. Almost the whole page was about Food. I should probably get away from doing so many pictures of food but I like to show what things I enjoy eating.

The Laundry journaling is actually a picture. I took a picture of the Laundry sign from the Laundromat then added the journalling underneath it. - P.s. The owner makes THE BEST turkey sandwich ever! Every time I get it I gobble it down like it's my last meal. It's that good. It's called Fireside Coffeebeans and Laundry in Owatonna, MN. I can't find a link or I'd post it.

Page 3 and 4. This starts the Delta Phi Scrappa (DPS) weekend. I broke out the pages into sections. So there is a Travel section, a food section, a scrapping section and our hotel section.

Page 3. Travel. Used an old tag and cut it down to size for the journalling. I can't remember where I got it from but I thought it was appropriate. The word stickers were from 7 gypsies.

Kimmie the road napper. I took this picture with my phone and turned it into a Polaroid. Sorry about the blur.

I had to get in a close up of the loaded down Yukon. We had it strategically packed to the hilt! Everything fit in there and nothing was squashed or wrecked. (That would be me doing the packing.)

Page 4...all about Food! My family has a love affair with food. We love it...which is why most of us are not exactly the skinniest people on the planet.

I think this journalling tab is October Afternoon but I can't find it anywhere online. Dang. I chronicalled some of our food exploits but not all because I just didn't have the room.

Breakfast at the Grand View Lodge is my absolute favorite. They have fresh fruit and awesome scrambled eggs...I think their bacon could use a little work though but then again I'm a bacon snob and am very particular about my bacon.

Page 5 & 6. I did some more pictures on the left of the hotel room at Grand View Lodge in Nisswa, MN

My favorite part of the room. This comfy reading chair.

I typed out journaling this time because it was going to be so large that I didn't want to write it out by hand plus I could put the ephemera to the right of it. I just used a 8 1/2 x 11 page protector to put the journalling in.

I created this title mirroring the DPS one.

Florida 2008 MiniBook

I created a Polaroid-style minibook awhile back. I didn't use a polaroid camera for the images but I created them.

1. I googled the size of the actual polaroid. The entire polaroid is 3 1/4" x 4 1/4" with the actual image being 2 7/8" x 3 3/4".

2. I used Photoshop Elements to crop each of my pictures to that size. In order to print you have to make a blank canvas to put the cropped images on. I use an 8x10 with 300 dpi. Crop each picture and drag the cropped image to the blank canvas. Then print the 8x10. You could also make a 4x6 blank canvas and fit two images on there and print if you want to save 8x10 paper.

3. I cut out the white background from a piece of white cardstock to the polaroid picture size.

4. Cut out the picture and glue it on the white cardstock and you're done.

You can get more technical and add some shadowing to make your picture looked slightly raised but I don't bother with that. If you'd like a more detailed description with images of Photoshop post a comment and if there is interest I will do a post. :)

I didn't put any significant journalling on each page but a small description. I will go back and do some significant journalling on additional pages but I've been itching to post the actual pages for some time and finally I've gotten to it. Trust me when I say my to do list is huge! So here goes.

The whole book. I haven't done a cover yet because I haven't thought of anything good but I will. So for right now the chipboard is blank and it is held together with some white ribbon.

First page. Picture of one of my favorite things in Florida. The palm trees. Yes, I can see palm trees many places other than Florida, but I enjoy seeing them and photographing them.

My favorite place to eat. I always eat at a Waffle House when I go down to Florida. It isn't Aunt Kathy's favorite place but she still goes there with me because she knows how much I love it.

We went to Downtown Disney and in the Disney store they painted the ceiling with the Sword and the Stone characters. It looked so awesome, so I took a picture of it.

World of Disney. Such a fun place even for adults.

We stopped at a Mini Golf place and played a round of Pirate Golf. It was a lot of fun.

I was the champ. :)

The next morning we walked to the Farmer's Market for some fresh produce and goods for dinner. The food arrangements were beautiful.

Later on we went to an Orange market. They had several different types of oranges and grapefruits. You could sample all of them. I ended up buying some and getting a box sent to my house. Damn they were good.

Saw this cool electrical pole near DisneyWorld. I just had to take a picture of it.

We went for lunch to the Cockpit Cafe which I'm sad to say is no longer around. It was a wonderful Czech restaurant.

Uncle Al enjoyed it so much he licked his plate clean. LOL I love this picture.

We went to a Botanical Garden in Sarasota. It was so beautiful. This little guy looked so peaceful in a pond with Water Lilies.

We ate at a seafood place in Sarasota after laying on the beach. Here is the view to the gulf.

I was walking around and they were sitting. I happened to walk past them and see them through this artwork...so I took a picture.

We went to the drum circle on Siesta Key. It's fun to listen to all of the different people make a beat together. There are women, men, children, teens, and adults. Every age is represented and many different nationalities.

One of my other favorite pictures. My reflection and the sunset's in Uncle Al's sunglasses as I take his picture.

The sunset and random people enjoying it. So beautiful. Moments like these are precious.

Road Trip to Galena, IL and Weekend with the Girls! Part 1

Here are some pictures from my AWESOME weekend with my college roommates (well back in the day)!

I had to drive about 5 hours to get there. I basically drive through Iowa. I was singing...On the road again, just can't wait to get on the road again. LOL This is somewhere between Owatonna and Albert Lea.

One of my favorite barns of all time. yes I realize that's an odd statement but it's beautiful. The paint job has been that way since I went to college.

The OP...best chicken enchilada ever! Smothered in cheese sauce. Oh it was delicious. That joint was right across the street from campus. I could walk there and get it.

Wartburg College...where I spent 4 years of my life that's including summers. It's a private Lutheran college with a beautiful campus and small class sizes. It's what I wanted. I didn't want to go to a state school in Minnesota. I wanted to get away and go to a small school. The price didn't bother me because I got some scholarships and knew that no matter what I'd have to take out student loans.

This is the little house where I lived with 3 roommates my senior year. It was a block or so from the Nestle plant where they made hot cocoa...I woke up to that yummy smell almost every morning. Ecstasy. I also lived right next to the bike trail which I could just hop right on with my rollerblades. The trail was an old railroad line that they blacktopped. It was like a tunnel of trees that was beautiful in fall and cool in summer. perfect.

This is where I worked from the fall of my sophomore year through to the end of my senior year. I started as a 10-hr a week bookkeeper handing some accounts payable and some accounts receivable to their full time 40-hr per week Accountant doing all the bookkeeping as well estate taxes and probates. It was a lot of work but I loved it. I learned so much, loved the people I worked with, had my own office and miss them every day. I wouldn't trade that experience for anything.

This is just an average every day Dairy Queen but it was an escape for me during my freshman and sophomore year. It was a nice walk from campus and a reprieve from school. Grab a buddy and walk down there chatting and enjoying the day then walking home with ice cream. Freshman year my roommate's sister worked there so we'd go there quite a bit. She introduced me to my favorite treat, a chocolate chip cookie dough blizzard with no chocolate and extra cookie dough. OMG so Tasty!

This is a picture of the softball field that a couple of my roommates and I played on during the summer of our sophomore year. Those are some good memories We won a lot of games, had a lot of fun and some of us got drunk (not me LOL) Our first basement stood on first base with a glove, a cigarette in her mouth and a can of beer in the other. She cracked me up. She'd set the can by the base during innings. She actually got better as she drank. LOL I can't stop laughing thinking about the visual image of that.

This diamond also has a fond memory of me plowing over a 7 foot tall guy in the outfield. I was charging for a fly ball into left and I was yelling as I was running, "I got it!" over and over but he didn't listen. I ended up catching it and running him over, doing a barrel roll and coming up with the ball. It was hilarious. I told him afterward that he should listen to me when I tell him I got it. The second memory was an in the park home run that I hit. It was freakin' sweet! I was on cloud nine!
