Whitney Wins America's Next Top Model

Kimmie and I love this show and finally a plus-sized, full-figured, curvy girl won. We seriously jumped up and down we were that excited. Thomas probably thought we lost our minds or something. We always wanted her to win but it always seemed like the judges had it in for the larger than toothpick models. So...anyways, she won! Sweet!

She looks good here too. As soon as I can I'll post the cover girl picture.

Project Runway

PR continues to please and disappoint me all at the same time. I think the judges better reconfigure how they decide who goes. They keep Ricky who continually makes crap garments but they let Kevin go last week. Please. Ricky's garments either have no point of view or they look like lingerie. Is lingerie it's own style? Maybe but not for everyone and please stop crying. You're killing me smalls.

Christian has the biggest mouth of them all I'd be content if he just shut up. He was lucky to be partnered with Chris this week because they made a good team, although Chris finally got his chance to design big and crazy as is his background. 45 yards of fabric? He could have clothed an entire Bolivian village. I liked it though. Isn't that crazy? They went all out, pulled out all the stops and it looked fabulous. I did think their wearable garment was a throw away though. The skirt was crap and gave her absolutely no shape.

Kit's dress immediately reminded me of a throw-back to Scarlett O'Hara in GWTW. Nice try but no cigar. If you're going to imitate something you've got to put your own twist on it and do it better, okay? Not like a small child designed the dress for her Barbie doll out of leftover scraps or was going for the Holly Hobby look. That's very 70's.

Victoria. She's really lucky she hasn't been booted yet. She always seems to want to take control but leaves it up to the other person because she doesn't want to be on the chopping block. Smart but it annoys me. I did like their mohawk-inspired edgy jacket though. I'm sure I've seen simliar things but I still liked it. Very edgy and dark. I hated the pants. While everyone says they are jodphurs which since I was a horse-rider means I don't agree, I think they were ala Herman Goering in WWII. Very nazi-ish and don't a good match for the jacket, in my opinion. Ughh...nasty nasty nasty. I do however like Jillian despite the jodphur mishap and she appears to pull things off (licorice outfit was way cool) she just doesn't do it for me.

Rami...yes, you can drap, get over yourself. Why don't you take drapping and find a way to make it into something else. Please. Right now the only thing you prove to me is that you could design clothes for a movie about the greek gods which doesn't translate into daily life. Okey dokey. Sweet P while I like her and her dress was cute she doesn't WOW me. No point of view, she just does whatever. That doesn't translate into a line of clothing.

So I guess basically I am undecided who should win at this point.

me playing Rockband with Thomas. I did some singing too which Kimmie has on her camera. I might have to destroy those images. Nobody and I repeat nobody wants to hear me singing along to any song. Yeah, I'm that terrible. I'd be one of those idiots on the first show of American Idol with the exception of I'd never be that stupid and do it. :)

Me and Thomas singing along to Dani California. "California rest in peace, simultaneous release, california show your teeth, she's my priestess, I'm your priest. yeah, yeah."

Victoria's Secret Fashion Show

Last night I trucked over to Kim and Tom's place to hang out and watch the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Here is a conversation and some random comments that Kim and I had while watching.

J: Holy sh*t, her b**bs are going to fall out of her bra. I wonder if the bra is stuck on?

K: It would be funny if their underwear fell off.

J: Yeah Kim, that'll happen. I'd say it be more likely that a b**b would pop out.

Near the end Karolina Kurkova was stomping down the runway and she had the most massive pair of angel wings on. The seriously went from the floor to about 1 1/2 times her height and I'm sure she's 6' and they stuck out horizontally from her body quite a ways too.

J: That'a Karolina Kurkova. Man she's walking slow must be those heavy wings. She looks like she is going to fall over.

K: Well I guess she should have eaten that peanut backstage then. (which basically means that she doesn't eat enough food to cart those wings around.)

LOL laughing laughing laughing

J: You know... I like it when they pan to the audience and you see all these celebrities staring with their mouths open drooling like pimply-faced teenage boys. (I added the last bit just now for a better description.)

J: What's on the stage? Looks like gravel or something.

J: You know...they really are going crazy with those socks that go right up to the models' underwear. Kind of ugly though. I'm just interested in the bra and undies.

Bacon, Boggle and Baseball

Tonight was all about the b-word, not b*tch but bacon, boggle and baseball.

I went over to little Kimmie's house and cooked bacon. She made pancakes, sausage and eggs but I brought the blue-ribbon, $5, thick cut, juicy, meaty, bacon and cooked it too. It was yummy. Nice and chewy, the grease soaked off onto some paper towels. Ahhh....bacon. :) Sorry...I love bacon.

So then Thomas and I played boggle, we seriously kicked some wicked a$$. Oh yeah. We played 13 games straight winning every single one and ended up at 2060 points which is the expert level. Plus, Thomas got an 8 letter word and we scored over a 45 point game. In one game we had 60 points total before subtracting off duplicates with the other player. It was sweet.

Then we watched the Twins game at around the 8th inning. It was a doozy too. We started watching right when Gardy was yelling at the ump and got ejected. We wished we were there. We'll be there tomorrow though. Should be good. Then I called Cuddyer getting a homerun. I did, seriously, I said, "This pitcher is all over the place, I bet the next one he'll put right down the pipe and Cuddyer will smack it out of the park." and the next pitch he did. That was awesome. Then Lew Ford got walked, Bucher bunted Ford to second and then Punto struck out (sorry Kimmie). Bartlett popped it up to mid-field but the idiotic second basemen dropped it because he didn't use two hands and got greedy so Ford made it home with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th to win it. It was so hilarious. Not a real good win but hey, I'll take it. Anything to get over .500 for the year.

A quote from the evening, "Maple syrup is like the ketchup of dinner. Maple syrup tastes good on pancakes, sausages, scrambled eggs and bacon although I'd rather not taint the flavor of my bacon with syrup."

Planet Earth Series

This series on the Discovery Channel was seriously the coolest thing I've ever seen. I think I told Ryan that about 10 times last night. I generally don't deal in absolutes, so my statement really means something.

Planet_earth Ryan and I watched all three episodes last night. We were hooked. I think my favorite was the slow-motion footage of the shark jumping out of the water to eat the seal whole. That was seriously sweet!

I guess I should explain what Planet Earth is? Well, here's the website planet earth, first of all.

Planet Earth is an 11 part series on the Discovery Channel. It took them 5 years to make it. They sent film crews to the most remote locations on earth to film the rarest and most unusual animals/creatures. Most of the time these animals have never before been caught on camera. Also, they use new types of cameras that show interesting viewpoints of these animals. For instance, they show a pack of African wild dogs (they look like a greyhound with bat ears with a coat that's colored like camoflauge) from a helicopter. So you are looking down on them while they hunt. You can see their movements and their tactics. It seriously is cool. I just can't find the words to make it sound as astounding as it is. They also show many images of earth from space so that is cool too.

If you haven't already seen it, you should. I mean it. Watch it. It's on Sunday nights so there is no excuse not too. Oh, also, it's narrated by Sigourney Weaver. She sounds just as good as Morgan Freeman in March of the Penguins.

So basically the images are stunning, the animals very interesting, the narrating superb and informative.

Did I mention they show this vampire squid in the Oceans episode? It lives between 984 to over 9.842 feet under the water's surface. Basically they live in darkness beause the light won't travel that far. Anyway, because of this they have have this glow-in-the-dark bacteria on the tips of their tentacles and in their eye. It was seriously cool. Amazing in fact. Okay, I'm done but hopefully this makes you watch it.

Top Chef

Last night's episode was weird. It just was. Heads shaved, violence, wrecked chocolate hearts...it had it all. I was really shocked at Cliff. I can't believe he held Marcel down and pretty much manhandled him. That was so mean. As much as I dislike Marcel I didn't think Cliff should have held him down and tried to shave his head. That was uncalled for. It was just wrong.

Ryan and I got into an argument about it. He didn't like Marcel so he said he would have done what Cliff did. I was shocked. I told him I would never ever do that.  I said, "Geez and I'm married to you. I can't believe you'd do that?" My husband is a northwoods animal somedays. It scares me. Other days he can be very professional and intelligent and other days he isn't, like last night.

Anyways, I thought the show was good. I really think Sam is going to win. He's an excellent chef and he knows how to run a kitchen without being extremely annoying like Marcel. He can be a bit pompous (thanks for that word Mitchelly) but not in a way that makes me dislike him.

I really think Elia could go a long way if she stops getting so worked up al l the time. I like the fact that her #1 is how her dish tastes. She nevers sells out on that. I think that is the most important, beyond setting and all that garbage. I've never heard them complain that much about the taste unless it doesn't work for their pallete or something.

Anyways, just wanted to comment.

Victoria's Secret Fashion Show

Last night Ryan and I watched the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. It was pretty good. They had a lot of themes, like airline, christmas, scottish, etc. I liked it.  I thought some of the suits were pretty sweet. It seemed like a bondage theme was popular though. A lot of metal and criss-crossing straps and bustiers and the like. Kind of kinky. Justin Timberlake sang his Sexy Back song, I thought that was appropriate. :) He was pretty hot too.

Ryan's favorite model was Adriana Lima, an exotic chick with a little bit more meat on her bones than some of the other models. (Ryan's wording) My favorite is Alessandra Ambrosio. I like her face, it's different, I guess and her her hips are a little big bigger than the other girls. So I guess Ryan and I like the more full-figured girls as opposed to the twigs.

Which got me to thinking...why is it women can look at another female and appreciate beauty but men can't seem to be okay with looking at other men and saying, "He's a goodlooking man." That statement would bring about some sort of homo-phobic response or indication.  Isn't that sad?

The Closer

I love this show and the season opener was on last night. It was awesome! 2 hours long! Kyra Sedgwick is awesome. Whenever she says "thank you" I just kind of giggle because it's funny. You should watch it if you don't. It's about homicides. She's the commander in charge and she's kind of ...what's the  word...take charge. She knows a lot and tends to step on people's feet but it's interesting all the same. Watch it.

Robin Williams on Letterman

I am listening to Robin Williams on Letterman right now. He's so friggin' funny. He is. I can't wait to see his newest movie "Man of the Year." I'm sure, yes very sure, that it will be absolutely hilarious. Can you tell that I like Robin Williams? Yeah, I do. It's really a shame that he was at a clinic for alcoholism. I guess everyone needs a vice. Some people just have vices that are much less harming to themselves or others. That's a debate for another day I guess.
