Back at it: Scrapbooking Art Journal

I did a couple scrapbook pages yesterday. Yes, it's been a very long time. I, to tell you the truth, have not been in the mood and when I'm not in the mood there is no point in forcing the issue because then I'd be wasting my time.

So I did a couple pages I thought you might want to see. Here is my album of other images I did for this Art Journal

Operation_20_3_words

Operation 20: Myself in 3 words: Tenacious, Creative and Passionate. Those are the very first words that came in my head. The very first. I couldn't even think of anything else.

Tenacious and creative are basically self-explanatory but passionate I think I want to explain. I mean passionate as in I feel passionate about things; my family, love, life, photography...stuff like that.

Um...I'm loving this picture of my eyes too. I've been looking for a reason to use it. The first word I think of when I see it is provacative, second; intense, 3rd; "I want you to want me...." (bonus points if you know the song and band who sings it)

Operation_24_water

Operation 24: Water - Nothing exciting here. I just love this picture of the Gulf from Siesta Key in Sarasota, FL. the Journaling is simple it just says, "Paradise. I love the ocean...the smell, the feel the sounds...water*seashore." Nothing soul-searching or intense.

Operation_25_play

Operation 25: Play - The journalling says, "Things that make me laugh, enjoy life, play, have fun and smile."

Operation_25_play_detail

"my niece and nephew, a new friend, my fam., a good movie, a witty joke, vacations, feeling good, pinochle, a bike ride (motorcycle), my ipod, taking a good picture, mini  golf and the Twins." those were the first things in my head.

Stash It Forward Winner

So without further ado, can I have a drum roll please. prrrrrrrrrr....well, you get the idea.

The lucky winner, drawn randomly is........

Wow, this is so generous of you! My plea is for a group of 16 foster children. I'm running a scrap circle for these girls, many of whom have moved from family to family for several years, with little or no documentation of their lives and memories. Some of them have lived with more than 8 different families. That means 8 different schools, 8 different sets of parents, 8 different neighborhoods, activities, churches, you get the picture. I'm helping them learn to take photos and keep their scrapbooks or "lifebooks" so that even if they have to move, they have their history to take with them. I'm always looking for donations as this group of girls doesn't have any money, so I'm supplying everything myself. Either way, hope you find someone deserving for the goodies!

Come on down you're the next contestant on the Stash It Forward! (said in best Price is Right voice)

Thanks so much for everyone who left a comment. I just have to say that I'm glad I did a random drawing because I would have liked to give each and every one of you a box of goodies. Truly. Everyone deserves to do this hobby. To get down a piece of their own history, their way.

Stash it Forward

Stash it forward is a wonderful idea that I found on Emily's blog. Basically you give away some of your scrapbooking supplies to someone in need. Somebody who wants to scrapbook but can't afford it. On Emily's blog there were comments from people saying they'd like to have supplies for their classrooms or they know a single mom who can't afford it but would like to document her children's lives, college students on a budget, kids whose parents can't afford this creative outlet, kids who have medical conditions, for the elderly in nursing homes, friends who are strapped for cash, a camp project to help kids with cancer...the list goes on. It's amazing.

I read that and thought, "This is an awesome idea!" So I am went through all my stuff gathered up a ton of supplies that I thought a person who wanted to start scrapbooking would like to have. I mean a ton. I ended up with so much stuff I sorted it into styles/themes. All of the pictures listed below is what is in this box. It's jam-packed full.Img_5853c See... Packed full!

Here are some pictures of the goodies that I'm going to send to a randomly selected individual. A whole box full of stuff.

All you have to do is leave a comment on this post saying who you are and why you'd like my box of goodies. If you know someone who deserves it you can leave a comment about that individual as well. I will randomly select a person on Monday evening who will get this glorious box of goodies. If you'd like, create a box of goodies yourself and send it to someone in need.

I call this the spring fling theme. Tons of pastel colors: blue and greens, some lilac, and some rub-ons in blue and green.

Road Trip - Polaroid-style

I took a trip to Wisconsin this weekend and snapped some shots of the scenic route along the way. No that doesn't mean I got lost. I never get lost. Seriously, I don't. I always figure out where I'm going, occassionally I take a wrong turn or something but I figure it out right away. I'm not bragging just stating a fact. That's my dad in me. Boys eat your heart out. I always say my sister and I should go on that Amazing race show. We'd kick some serious butt. I mean Michelle not Kim. Kimmie has problems with directions. :) (hee hee haa haa Kimmie!)

Anyway, that's beside the point.

Here are some of my favorite pages that I did. I used a 7 gypsies album. I cut my pictures down to a 3x3 size and mounted them like a polaroid image. I think it looks cool. It only took me a couple hours to do. It isn't that exciting but I had fun doing it.

I was in a scrapbooking mood

So here are a bunch of layouts I did tonight and on Monday night.

This first one I did for Emily's Art Journal Challenge called Life and I used a Pencil Lines Sketch.Sketch78

So then there is Elise's weekly challenge. I love the challenges she gives. The words always seem to give me really good ideas or I think to journal something that I normally don't. Isn't that what it's all about?

Operation 14: Looking Forward

Operation_14_looking_forward

Here's the title detail

Operation_14_title_detail

Here's a detail of the bottom right corner. I used a Heidi Swapp flower rub-on then a Making Memories postage sticker that points left.

Operation_14_right_corner_close_up

Operation 13: Spring

Operation_13_spring

Yeah, it's kind of crazy but I was excited for spring so I used a lot of color and flowers and a bit of craziness because I have the winter blues or whatever it's called.

Operation_13_spring_title

Spring, bring it on baby.

Operation_13_spring_journalling

here's the journalling. I know it's a bit difficult to read but i like to write on top of pictures sometimes and this was the perfect one.

Operation 12: Luck

Click on the image to see a close up. The Journalling says "Vegas was a lucky place for me. My family & I went to the Price is Right at Bally's and I was chosen to spin the big wheel and I won $250 cash! It was so awesome. Seriously cool! I could barely think straight and I couldn't see because the lights were so bright. I'll never be so excited again."

Operation 11: Habit

Operation_11_habit

Journalling says "This year I've started a new habit. I joined Flickr, an online photo sharing site and I joined a group called Project365. A group that posts a picture everyday. I take a picture everyday." My new habit.

Scrapbooking Weekend

This weekend was our Family Scrapbooking Event at Michelle's House (Guy was gone fishing). Kimmie and I stayed over Friday and Saturday night. We scrapbooked all day, well except for the occassional nap and break-times. Grandpa came to babysit so Jack wouldn't be in our hair.

I'll post pictures later. I've done enough posts tonight to wear me out for awhile.

Elise's Challenges

Elise's paper adventure challenges for the last couple of weeks were:

Operation 10: Got Talent, list a talent you believe to possess. Toughy, really but as I'm infatuated with Photography I chose that. I love to do it and believe I take good pictures. I do have a lot to learn but I'm on my way.

Operation_10_got_talent

I used some different papers here: Wild Asparagus is the black patterned and blue strip on the left. Elsie's Line for the camera strip and some American Crafts white spongey letter stickers. I used Luxe circle rub-ons as well.

Operation 9: Take it or Leave It

I wrote down a piece of advice that a very good friend of mine once told me and it's so true. Read the Layout to find out.

Operation_9_take_it_or_leave_it

Pat was my senior by about 30 years when I worked at the Law Firm during College. We would go on bike rides and go to the movies together. She was a great friend and mentor. I miss her so much. She was a delightful boss and a wonderful friend.

Operation 6: Color

I took a couple pictures of some stuff in my room that were colorful.

Operation_6_color_all

Here's the detail.

Operation_6_color_pg_1

Top left to right and down: Red fake animal skin bag I got from Bath and Body Works one Christmas. My green summer co-ed softball team shirt. My orange xyron sticker maker. A beautiful picture of Tampa Florida I took last year. A small yellow legal pad full of stuff I need to get done. A purple ornament on my fake tree.

Operation_6_color

The journalling. I love the letter stickers on the right. Aren't they fun and cool? I need to buy some more I think. :)

Here is the whole album of all the layouts so far. PaperChallenge
