Jacob Turns 1!

Jacob turned one yesterday! I would have posted these pics yesterday but I was a bit busy with his party and then softball. So, here are a TON of pictures from his first year. I made centerpieces out of these pictures for the party. 2 for each month...and a couple extra because I couldn't resist how cute they were. :)

Sitting on my lap the day after he was born. Too cute and totally Thomas. I brought Thomas a jug of milk and a package of cookies and I brought Kimmie a bologna sandwich. She was famished.

A pea in a pod - 6/14 - 2 months old

6/10 - one of Kim's fav outfits. Little Jeans.

6/22 - over 2 months old. Laying on my bed laughing. The first time I saw him smile and giggle. It was cute.

6/26 - His Baby Shower. Baseball-themed of course. :)

7/4/11 - At 4th of July fireworks. He was pretty happy and the fireworks didn't bother him at all. He didn't cry or anything. Smiles all the time.

At Grandma Sherry's birthday party. 7/26 - over 3 months old. Much more alert now and getting so big and chubby. :)

8/15/11 - 4 months old today! - SCFF - his first fair day! Eating breakfast at teh Aurora Diner in Twins attire with Auntie Jen!

8/17 - Another Fair picture.

8/25 - At Kickball with Auntie Jen. He got some shots today. That's why he's wearing band-aids

8/27 - my birthday party. Jacob is standing in the couch, leaning on Auntie Shelly.

10/1 - 5 months old with Uncle Nick (his godfather)

10/9 - Just taking some baby pictures of him today.

10/9 - One of my all-time favorite pictures of Jacob. Kim and I were giving him a baby bath. He loves baths. Loves to splash and be wet and play with his baby toys.

10/22 - 6 months old

11/8 - Working on moving up the food chain. Eating cereal now.

11/23 - 7 months old - At Cookie decorating at Michelle's house. He wanted to eat pizza and the cookies. Likes to grab for stuff now.

11/25 - Shopping the day after Thanksgiving with Mom, Auntie Jen and Auntie Michelle. He loves being carted around in the backpack. Loved watching everyone and kicking his legs and waving his arms. Pretty good baby that day.

12/1 - Wearing Jayde's hockey hat and doing the military crawl (uses just his arms)

12/7 - with Grandma.

12/18 - 8 months old. Totally getting around and getting into stuff. Loves these bibs because it has that monkey in the pocket he can chew on.

Same date. Put him in his little santa suit and stuck him in front of Grandma Harbal's Christmas tree. He was so cute.

12/24 - Loved being in this box, giving us his little devilish smile. That's totally Thomas. I call Jacob LT (Little Thomas) sometimes but Thomas calls him Little Turd. So then I call Thomas Big Turd. LOL

1/11 - Naked Baby! Well, not really but it's cute.

1/18 - 9 months old - Cookie Monster Baby! He's getting so much bigger. Eating more food now too. Same amoutn of milk but more food.

2/6 - Baby bath time! He loves them. Loves to splash and play with his toys. Loves the rubber ducky.

2/14 - 10 months old - Ate his first baby sugar cookie. He loved it. He tried to get the whole thing in his mouth.

2/16 - Loves the chair at Grandma's house. One of his favorites and go-to toy when he's over. He stands up and bops the chair and makes it sing then he kind of shimmies his butt like he's trying to dance. It's cute.

3/2 - He stands up on the baby gate in "baby jail" and likes to shake his baby booty. LOL He also likes ot yell at you if you are in the kitchen because he wants to watch what you are doing...or get into the cat food.

3/10 - 11 months old (almost) - He loves standing up now. Especially when he stand against the door and look outside. Sticks his tongue out a lot too.

3/11 - Trying to get some pictures for his Cookie Monster birthday card but he was sick and wasn't cooperating.

I'll post pictures of his party soon. I'm a little behind with going on vacation then helping out with his party and other daily life stuff. :)

 

 

 

Korben is 1 Today!!!!

My nephew Korben James Harbal is 1 today! I call him Korby though. I picked that nickname up from Dad. LOL So I thought I'd post some pictures of the little guy from birth to now...just because the first year is when they grow so much that it's cool to see a timeline.

9/26/11 - A little over 5 months old. He was spinning himself around with his feet at this point.

Right around Valentine's Day - 10 months

10 months and a week - He loves chomping on water bottles. He's got very long eyelashes.

Play Guitar Hero with Uncle Chris (one of his favorites). Here he really looks like Jimmy. He's getting more hair and it's starting to curl just like Jimmy's did. This is during March so close to 11 weeks old.

At the 4-H Pasta Dinner/Fundraiser weraing the batman shirt I bought him for Valentine's day. He's close to 11 months old.

So Jimmy. Starting to thin out and get taller I think.

Wearing my Easter present the other day. He's a little clone of Jimmy. LOL

Project Life 2012: Week 11

Here we are Week 11 and I'm still loving this! I am getting more into the digital side of it though. I am putting my journalling on the pictures themselves. I can get so much more in plus then I can describe the picture itself.

The whole album thus far: Project Life 2012

2 pages this week. I used a lot of green for St. Patrick's Day.

Page One: I used the 6 4x6 page protector and split some of the 4x6 into 4x3's. I like that. Then I can get more pictures.

For the weekly "title" I used 3 punched out hearts and turned them into a clover. Then just cut up a piece of scrap paper for the stem. The bottom picture is an image from my droid bionic phone. I gave it the gritty/rustic adjustment.

This is my jpg image that I printed out. I just cut off the right-side of this picture with the black space.

Project Life 2012: Week 10

Week 10 and still kickin' it! Having so much fun with this. Love putting stuff down each week while I still can remember it, as opposed to writing it down, blogging it then doing the page a year later.

Week 10!

Page one. It feels a little jumbled to me. Like no focal point or something but I'm just glad I've got something down and pictures printed and put in an album.

I'd like to do better though. Maybe break up the pictures so there are close-ups between far away shots. That might break up the monotony. I don't want people to page through this album. I want them to stop and read and look.

 

I used the teal and limie green because it's March and because it matches my new shoes. :) The numbers are from a number clear stamp kit. It has different sizes and shapes of each number. So a fat, skinny, and outlined number one, same for 2-9 and zero too.

I just wanted to highlight this. I added the 4-H clover on the bottom left.

Dad betting at the 4-H Silent Auction. Our family pooled our money which turned out to be $13 for me to win the picnic table at the Junior Leader's Stand which is set aside entirely for us. So we will always have a table to sit at. Which is entirely appropriate for us because there is always someone at the fair.

It was fun watching Dad stay all calm and collected while he bid. He didn't start bidding at first but waited until about the middle of the road.

Just some basic details about the week. I used the day of the week stamps again. I really like those. Then added my own handwriting. I outlined the edge with some teal ink just to give it a little pop.

Food. This is two pictures sized 4x3 to fit in the 4x6 vertical. I like doing that. I can add more pictures that way. I'm also liking doing my journaling directly on the picture before I print it.

I got to see Jacob this weekend. He was so much fun. Pretty happy and playful most of the day...then he felt sick so he wound down a bit.

He liked standing by the back door and looking outside.

He's workin' on sticking his tongue out more. LOL

"Ha ha Auntie Jen." He has that naughty gleam in his eyes...like his Daddy.

He puts one finger in his mouth a lot. I call it the fishhook. LOL

I dare you. No, I double dog dare you. I want you to bookmark this post and when you are having a bad day come back to it and if you don't smile after looking at this cute baby...I'll, I don't know...I'll do something stupid. I'll send you a dollar. Something. Just look at that cute face.

Seriously, look at him. He's so cute and cuddly and chubby and kissable.

oh yeah and happy.

Everytime, well, almost everytime before I leave I whisper in his ear, "Auntie Jen loves you." then I kiss his cheeks.

 

 

A couple random pics

Chris, on his birthday, playing Guitar Hero with Korby. Korby was so excited. You should have seen his face. This picture doesn't do it justice. He was just all lit up.

Kim and Jacob and Grandpa and Korby eating at the 4-H Pasta Fundraiser at the Junior High. At first Grandpa and I were feeding Korby off our plates but once Jacob got there we decided it would be better if they got their own plates. So Dad and Kimmie went up there and got them each a plate of food. They ate a ton of it too.

Korby looks like he wants to grab that meatball and stuff it in his mouth.

Homemade Oatmeal Creme Pies. They were tasty! I made them. I could have probably put more frosting in there but the frosting is so rich I didn't want to overload the cookie sandwich.

Quick update

Just a quick update on what's been happening.

1. Chris bought a Kia Soul

It's olive green and I test drove it in my pj's on Sunday. I beat on it a little. hee hee

2. Korby came to visit me for about 15 minutes. In which time he cried at me, I cuddled and smooched him, I had to wipe his ever-running snot nose, he chewed on a water bottle, I took some pictures of him, and I fed him his first Girl Scout Cookie (peanut butter - do-si-does) I panicked a bit because I technically shouldn't be giving him nuts because he could be allergic...but he wasn't so that was good. He tried shoving that whole cookie in his mouth. It was funny. I had to keep fishing it out so he wouldn't choke on it. It was cute.

He's got such long eyelashes. It's cute.

3. I made homemade chicken noodle soup (my own broth and everything and all organic) and I made homemade carrot cake on Sunday. Post will be coming soon.

Ahhh...carrot cake with chopped pecans in the butter/cream cheese frosting. :)

 

 

Project Life 2012: Week 8

Week 8 is here! I kept it fairly simple this week which is good because otherwise I turn a small project into a large project...which is not the point of this project. I just used project waaaaayyyy too many times. LOL

One of things I've done recently to aid me in keeping this project simple is put all of my supplies that relate to this project in a clear 12x12 paper holder. It helps to have everything in the same spot so I don't have to go digging through supplies elsewhere. It really saves time. There's not a greater time suck than digging for a certain supply or just plain going through your stuff.

Supplies that I've put in there include, small letter stickers and rub-ons, paper with lines on it for journalling, small journalling tablets, word and phrase stickers, any kind of rub-on or sticker related to the days of the week or life, as well as some clear stamps that have journalling lines on them and dates/days of the week.

I used the 6x6 page protector on the left and the 8-3x3 and 1-6x12 on the right.

I like the large space in the middle on the right because you can break it up any way you want to. That can be helpful...or can make you take more time because you are trying to decide how to use the space. So I only use it when I have a clear and distinct idea that I want to do...otherwise it's another time drain.

Page 1

I broke down the 6x6's to fit each section. Top left is the week embellishment and journalling from part of the week. I really like using the Jillibean Soup day stamps to indicate which day I'm writing about. I think it's nice to have something to break up the monotony of my hand-writing.

On the top right I broke it out using 4 2x3 pictures. By using the 2x3 I didn't lose any of the original image. (Divide 4x6 by 2 and you get 2x3, therefore none of the image is lost).

The bottom left I used one 4x6 and 2 2x3's. I really like that. I also did that for the bottom right as well.

Here's my Week 8 in detail. I used some funky paper...because it had some whirly circles, some bright fun blue and a hint of red since it's still February. I used a heart stamp (can't remember who it is) that had an 8 ball in the corner pocket of the heart (did that on purpose since it was our last scotch doubles pool night this week). I cut out around the stamped image to give it some pop then backed it with bright red and added the white 8 sticker (American Crafts) to the side and outlined it with a red pen. I also bordered the edge with the same red pen to give it some pop.

Jillibean Soup stamps and some journaling. I wrote about those days because the other days are covered in the other journaling.

Date night post. I like using the big title. Seems fun and good way to get the point across fast. :) I also added some phrase stickers along the border because my pictures weren't quite even so now you can't tell.  :)

I used some Doodlebug twine and tied it in the middle of the page. I did this because at first you couldn't see the pictures separately. They looked all jumbled and you lost a focal point. So I split them up with this twine which I thought made it feel warmer to match with the pictures. I had to use a bit of glue to make it stay in one place. I just used a little bit by the knot.

I just wanted to show these three pictures. One was of Jayde eating lunch with me and the other two are, of course, of food. LOL :P

That is a picture of Costa's English Toffee. It's the best. It's so damn good. I always get a piece or maybe two when I go. You know...one for now and one for later.

Page 2: I did the big Happy Birthday in the middle because I went to two parties during the week for Traci and Jimmy. Figured an important event like that needed a big section on it's own.

These two images go together because one is the flowers that Jayde, his Mom and I got for Mom the week before for her surgery. The other is the card Jack made for Grandma. I couldn't fit them in last week so I added them to this week.

I also added this little piggy picture and Jack's hand-writing here because I thought it was a cute addition. I like to show his progression of handwriting and drawing. He's very good at drawing. This isn't the actual drawing. It's a picture of it. I forgot to save the sheet he drew on and I think it had food all over it anyways. LOL

I had to put in this quote that Jayde said the other day because it made me laugh so much. LOL

Had to get this picture of Jacob in. This week he started "helping" whoever was feeding him get the food into his mouth. It was cute.

A new book I bought and a movie I went to. The book is a picture of the corner of one of the pages then I added an image of the book and shrunk it down. J.D. Robb's Celebrity in Death.

Jayde and I went to the Descendants which was excellent. A funny yet poignant movie that made me tear up a couple of times. Heart-wrenching but funny. A good mix. Not sure I would buy it because it was so painful for me to watch (reminded me of Grandma in the hospital) but it was very good.

Broke down the two days into their own journaling.

I used two different types of stickers. The black was American Crafts and the Pink was Making Memories. The cupcake is a stamp. I can't remember who made it though. It's cute though.

Fall Adventure Mini Book 2011

I finished my Fall Adventure Mini Book during the scrapbooking retreat up in Nisswa and I'm finally going to post them.

This is the book. A 5x7 or thereabouts board book that I painted red and added an apple on the cover. I'm probably going to put a title on the front but I haven't yet figured out how I want to do it so I'm leaving it blank for now.

Front page. I used the wood grain heavy duty transparency and put some appropriate stickers on them. I was waiting patiently for the right moment to use that wood grain/bark transparency. This was perfect.

Here's a close up. The stickers are from Jillibean Soup. Love here collections. They are cute without being crazy and are easy to use.

Page 1. I love these apples. Since it was a fall adventure...and we went to the apple orchard I figured might as well have them front and center.

I started with a journaling page and the picture of our group.

The next section was picking apples. I love this picture because it shows a full grown red apple and smaller greenish one. I love the contrast.

Technically I messed up...this little bit of journaling should be on the next page but I messed up. Damn.

See what I mean. Thank "thankful" comment should be on this page. Damn.

The paper I used for the edging has names of different apple types on it. I thought that was cute. It's Jillipean Soup too.

I used three different kinds of paper to do the eding. The green paper that was checked, the paper with the different types of apples on it and some yellow polka dot paper.

 

I know the picture above is kind of blown out in the background but I really like it that way. It's warm and golden and feels like a picture from the 70's

sorry this one's blurry. I love that picture of Gracie's hands. it's cute.

Pumpkin picking. I didn't really mean to put the picture vertical and the journaling horizontal but I wanted to keep the order of the pictures this way.

Project Life 2012: Week 7

Here we go, Week 7! Valentine's week! I used a lot of red in this one. It was just an excuse to break into some of my cool Valentine's supplies...of course I wasted a lot of time digging through all of it to find the perfect items...then I spent time agonizing over what I wanted to use the most...which is not the idea of this project. The idea behind the project is to get stuff done in a limited amount of time. I'm failing in that instance but achieving milestones in actually keeping up with this project. So I'd say it washes out. :)

Page 1 and 2. The first page uses the 4x6 vertical page protector then I added an insert of the baseball card page protector then I have one 8 1/2 x 11 page protector then my final page. :) I think I should just get used to the idea of doing more than two pages a week. I just have so many pictures. :)

Page 1: Notice I blurred out a picture of my mother in the hospital. Sorry, not gonna show that on my blog. That would be mean. I did, however, show pictures of my Dad becuase he's a goof. LOL

Notice the heart theme going on? LOL I went a little crazy there but it's Valentine's week. :)

Love this paper. Seriously. It's so cute. I just inked the edges with Staz On Red, then with a little black, then added a black penned in border.

Page 2 - All devoted to Pre-Valentine's stuff.

Up close image of the journalling. I just used a piece of Valentine Paper that had journaling lines and cut it to fit my baseball card page protector.

I love this picture. I think it's cool. I couldn't not have it in my book. I cut the picture down to make sure that the focal point in the upper third corner was the heart-shaped cookie cutter. :)

Close up of the tasty and beautiful cookies I made using my Grandma's recipe. They really are quite good.

A picture of Nick's valentine card that I dropped off with cookie. I spent about an hour dropping off everyone's cookies and cards on Valentine's which was a huge feat because there are 8 houses all across the county (Simon's in Ellendale, Nick in Blooming Prairie, Jamie on Cty Rd 45, Kimmie on South side of Owatonna, Chris, Auntie Sheila and Jimmy all within a couple blocks of each other on the South Side of Town, and Michelle on the North side of town.)

Page 2 and 3

Babysat the Kidlets on Saturday night so that got it's own page. Lots to do and tons of pictures to choose from.

A close up of the journaling. The letter stickers are October Afternoon. I love that company. I've been using them more and more. They are beautiful, simple and not too crazy. I don't generally like loud and obnoxious stickers and papers unless I can cut it up and use parts of it. LOL

Pictures of Jack doing what he loves...playing with legos (his cash register I bought him LOL) and coloring/drawing. He is so good at it too. He's only 6 and he's so good at it. I might have to find some good drawing books for him or sign him up for a class of some sort.

This is Jack's suitcase. He packed, toys, legos, 5 one-dollar bills, a package of t-shirts, some underwear, a book, a tractor...um...some other miscellaneous stuff. LOL

A couple pictures of Gracie sleeping, coloring and eating her Cheese Pizza. She knew exactly what she wanted at Perkins. Pizza...even though I didn't think they had pizza but she knew.

This is just a 8 1/2 x 11 page protector that I put in the Valentine's I got. The white envelope was a copy of the one I made for my loved ones, the striped heart was from Jack and the Hot card was from Jayde. On the inside it says, "So hot that the box of gourmet chocolates has melted." It was cute.

This is the card Auntie Sheila made. I used a picture from Christmas that I took of them and then photo-shopped in the dog. Can you tell? I even added a shadow to mirror that of the shadows on everyone else in hope's that it would be close enough so that you couldn't tell. So...can you tell?

The last page using a page protector with 6x6 sections. I cropped the pictures to 5x5 then glued them down in the corners so that it would look like a frame around the outside. Then I added the 3 hearts to keep it a bit cozy or I'd like to think it's cozier. :)

Jacob's first cookie. I gave him a little baby heart cookies to eat since he's little. He two-fisted it into his mouth but only ate a small piece. Then he put it back on his tray and then tried to pick it up but it stuck to his finger. So he ended up double-fisting it again to get the rest of it in his mouth. It was cute.

Me and my nephews on Twilight: Breaking Dawn: Part 1. Both babies were together so naturally I needed to get a picture with them. I can never seem to get both of them to smile at the same time.

Korby is heavier and taller. Jacob has slightly curly hair and Korby does not. Korby has long fingers and Jacob has cute little sausage fingers. LOL Korby drools enough to sink a ship and has teeth, Jacob doesn't drool and has no teeth. LOL They were born a couple days a part.
