Rice County Fair

me, Kimmie, Traci, Mom, Dad, Jimmy, Kelly, Stacy and Heidi went to the Rice County Fair last night. It was a beautiful night to go, not too hot, a tad bit breezy, not too busy and the food was good. (good being a relative term if you like greasy, expensive, fattening fair food.) :)

We ate (duh), checked out the fair projects, ooh'd and aah'd over the animals (passed on the goats and piggies though-nothing exciting there), did a little bingo-ing (Kim's still fuming about losing) and bashed each other in bumper cars (Dad was going down). Overall, a very fun evening.

One of the best parts of the evening actually didn't come at the fair though. We were driving there and back and Kim, Traci and I sang Nickelback songs and Baby Got Back all the way. God it was hilarious. All of us, sqashed into the backseat singing, all the friggin' words. It was one of those moments I've got imprinted in my memory. Mom and Dad in the front cringing because we were off-key half the time.

Img_0493c_2

For some reason I keep wanting to title this one "Walk this Way" then I start singing the Aerosmith song. Me, Kimmie and Traci from the back. Not sure we'll get many dates showing men this picture though. :)

Img_0497c_2

Kimmie HAD TO SEE a Jersey calf, "cause they are the cutest," she says.

Img_0498c_2

Traci's favorite, a belted Galway. She wanted to take one to the fair but we don't know anybody that has one and they are expensive to buy.

Img_0501c_2

Kimmie says, "Oh! Is that a petting zoo? Oh!! Can we stop?" I say, non-chalantly, "Yes, Kimmie, we can stop."  So she immediately heads over to the food machines so she can feed them.  Traci says, "She's such a kid at heart." Too true.

Img_0509c

Here is my favorite, a Highland Calf. Man they are cute. There was some not so cute looking animals though. Traci and I said as we walked by this shifty looking camel, "Um...he looks dangerous, let's keep walking."

Img_0519c_2

Me looking crazy with my free hibiscus hair clippy I got from the Hawaiian shaved ice stand.

Img_0520c_2

Me with my $10 winning bingo card! yeah! that was nice. I bought everyone the next game and ended up winning that one too. We only played two games and I won both. Damn Kimmie was ticked at me. She just glared so I called her my "bingo troll." LOL

Img_0525c

Kimmie and I taunting Dad in bumper cars. "Hey Dad, we're coming, are you quaking in your boots?" "Dad, we're watching you!" "Dad, you're going to be nothing but road kill." "Hey Ma, take some pictures!"

So there was this little girl that we were watching in a bumper car before it was our turn and every time she'd hit someone she'd throw her hands up and screech (like Gracie does). She must have been substituting bumper cars for a rollercoaster or something. Every time, didn't matter how hard she hit or got hit, she'd do it. It was hilarious. We were just standing on the sidelines laughing our tushies off.

**Note: Kim and I saw the hottest Carnies at this fair. Seriously, usually they look nasty and scraggly and ugly but these guys were clean, polite and HOT! Why can't we get them at our fair?

Kelly's Bachelorette Party

Here are a couple pics from the Bachelorette party on Saturday night. We started at Michelle's house, played a couple games, then went to Wanted at the Lakeville Cinema, dinner at Chianti Grill in Burnsville and then barhopped our way back to the bonfire at Grandma's.

Img_8628c

Here's the bride to be, Kelly. She's wearing some playboy bunny ears and a bow-tie and her official name for the evening as "Princess." She even had a crown to wear. Michelle, Kim and I assigned stripper/hooker names for each guest. We had Bunny, Muffy, Candy, Lolita, Franchesca, Natasha, Buffy, Heather...that's all I can think of.

Img_8627c

What'a a bach. party without some sexy lingerie, from Auntie Sheila. Kelly looks a little embarassed...you think? That's pretty cute though.

Img_8632c

Here's our group: Jack (not really), Michelle, Traci, Sheila, Ashley, Heidi, Stacy, Kelly, Kimmie, me and Mom and Gracie.

Img_8636c

Here's our "naughty" one. That's a lot of butts for one picture. :) Looks more like a police line-up than a bach. party. Ah well, you win some you lose some.

Img_8640c

Here's Traci at dinner.

Img_8641c

Here's Kimmie half in the bag after one Cosmo. Yeah, I was 3/4 in the bag after my drink then I got a glass of Riesling. Woah was I drunk. Felt good actually. I had a lot of liquor that night but you know what. I didn't puke and didn't have a hangover either. I was just tired, so overall, pretty good night.

Card night and drinking.

Thursday night was full of cards, laughter, booze, drunkeness, swearing, walking and basically a good time.

7308_sneaky_jamie

Jamie trying to be sneaky while playing cards. Not easy when you're inebriated. Nice tray Jammers.

Img_8331c

Kimmie pondering, thinking, whatever. Not easy to do when you are inebriated. Nice try Kimmie.

Img_8333c

Thomas looking like a drunk but in actuality he was completely sober. Pictures can deceive I guess. The stuff on the left is mine, Bacardi O (the most popular of the evening), Jamie's Raz, Kimmie's Bacardi Silver Watermelon.

Img_8335c

Jamie trying to help Tara learn how to play for the first time. Not a good idea when you are inebriated and you can't concentrate because there was too much talking going on.

Img_8339c

Little Lyndsay. "Hey, what are you doing? Texting?" Oh no, updating my phone, okay you're good.

Img_8340c

Jamie and Thomas. Poor guy, he stayed up late with half a group of drunken women. What he goes through because he loves Little Kimmie. We love you Thomas.

Img_8341c

Jamie decided, in her infinite wisdom, that some fruit punch-flavored tootsies would go nicely with Watermelon cheerleader beer. Ah...no, it just turned the color from clear to pinkish. Nice try.

So after the card night we decided to go out to the bars; me, Kimmie and Jamie. We had a fun time. We were dropped off at Reno's, had a red-headed sl*t, some house punch and then danced and walked to the Bowling alley (like a block away), we had a raspberry-something drink, danced and played the nudy game (hard to explain). We then decided to walk to Glassmaker's house and bother them. En route Kimmie decided she would try and put her sweatshirt on and get a tootsie and she ended up falling on her behind. It was funny. We were picked up in an S10 and had to ride in the back, lovely. We ended up stopping at Reno's again and got Lyndsay to pick us up instead. Thank heavens.

Um...I was fairly well drunk but apparently I conduct myself well as a drunk because nobody could tell. LOL hee hee That's pretty good. I laughed so hard at that. Nobody could tell. I don't slur my words or do stupid things just talk louder and a lot. I guess I'm no fun. Oh well, there could be worse things.

Pinochle, drinking and a new limerick

Whoooahhhh! (think Al Pacino from Scent of a Woman)

I'm playing pinochle and doing a little bit of drinking tonight. Oh yeah. I've been looking forward to it all week. I'm super excited! As in Christmas morning-opening presents excited. As in I just got a bonus at work excited. As in I could feel some cold on my lip & chin the other day excited.

I'm trying to post a picture with every post so here's an old one of one my very bad pinochle hands that was probably dealt to me by Thomas.

2328580622_1fd743e149

Let's hope I don't get any hands like this one. Or I'll be swearing more than little Kimmie does around Jamie.

There are a few things that I know will come true tonight. As in it happens every time I get to play cards:

a. Thomas will deal badly.

b. Kimmie will swear like a drunken sailor. Every 4th word will be F*ck.

c. Jamie and Thomas will be partners, b/c that's how it always ends up eventhough we do a random draw for partners.

d. I will call somebody a hag...more than once.

e. I will tell Kimmie to, "pay attention."

f. Kimmie will yell at me for chastising her.

g. I will have a big smile on my face.

h. Aunt Kathy will see this blog post and be jealous.

i. I will be drinking, not to get drunk, just feel good. :)

j. Somebody will get set. (they always do)

Okay that's enough of that. We'll end on J 'cause that's the first letter of my name. What better reason?

Here's a Friday Limerick called Needy

M&M's

So this isn't the most exciting thing on the planet and yes I'm aware that it's not literarily riveting nor conducive to you continuing to read this post to start out like that but did you know you can put pictures on M&M's now? Sweet huh? (no pun intended)

Mm_2

You can put your face on it, your eye ball, a picture of your dog, whatever you would want to (I'm sure nudity is forbidden).

I just thought that was neat. Not that I'm going to go out and put my face on an M&M because I'm sure it's not cheap. I just thought it was neat.

Here's the site, in case you are interested. M&M's

Cherries and Nickelback

Me eating one of my favorite foods, a cherry.

61108_take_a_bite_2

Yes, a kind of weird looking shot but I get sick of doing the same old same old. So, why did I pick this one? I like that I can see my eye clearly and that it seems to be a focal piont, no glare on my specs, my nose looks relatively small (yeah), and...you can see the cherry.

Img_7850c

Me in one of my favorite shirts and pants. My Nickelback t-shirt and Gap Long and Lean pants. They are getting a little baggy though but then again I don't like wearing tight pants. Ughh...

June 12, 2008

Cherries and an engaging thought.

Okay, so if you know me, you know my two favorite foods, and that's hard to say 'cause I like food, are cherries and bacon. Yes, a weird combination and I never said I was normal (crazy jen is the name of my blog, that ought to have been a clue), moving on.

So I was at Byerly's on Monday and they have beautiful produce, they do. The best I've seen besides farmer's markets. So I saw some yummy looking, deep dark red, firm bing cherries. Yes, I am very picky about buying cherries. #1 because I know what a good flavored cherry looks like and I don't want to bite into a bad one and #2 because they are expensive and I don't want to buy bad cherries that cost me an arm and a leg.

Okay, so I was eating them yesterday as an afternoon snack. They were tasty. I'll post a picture later tonight and I was thinking about how they have stems and they say if you are good you can tie a stem into a knot inside your mouth using your teeth and tongue without using your hands. Okay, so I tried tieing a stem into a knot with my hands first and I couldn't do it, the stem was too short so how would I possibly do it without my hands? The people that are able to do it must have a really long stem or something. Maybe this theory is an urban myth made up by some middle-aged desperately frustrated perverted man. :)

It's just a thought.

Exciting Friday

So here's an update:

Today is a gorgeous 70-degree day. It's beautiful and a little breezy, just the way I like it. Michelle and I are going to the Fitzgerald Theatre in St. Paul to see Swan Lake performed by Ballet Minnesota. Should be exciting. I can't wait. I love ballet and I haven't gotten to see one in over a year. How sad, I know. We decided to eat at Boca Chica a Mexican Restaurant in St.Paul. Carlotta, co-worker, said it's the best, so we'll try it.

So yeah, that's the news from the crazyjen newsdesk. I hope you have a lovely and productive day and remember, stay positive (that's what my Aunt says).

daily something pics

some of my latest daily something pics.

51108_sunday_softball

5.11.08 "Sunday Softball" - my cousin Tara hitting the ball at the Diamonds during her game. Sorry about the bad timing. Wish I could have gotten a shot of her making contact.

51208_bedroom_eyes_2

5.12.08 "Bedroom Eyes #2" -Just one of me laying in my bed. Maybe I should title it "look into my eyes!" I read in a book once that when a woman gives a guy the "googly eyes" you know, trys to turn on the charm using a look like this one, it's called "turning on those blue headlights" or something like that. Feels appropriate here, doesn't it?

I like to take pictures of me when I'm actually wearing my contacts which isn't often. Taking pics of people who wear glasses, my self included, isn't easy. I'm hoping you're distracted by the eyes to not notice the no make-up un-even skin-tone issue. I seriously considered going b&w for this one.

Well, okay, here it is.

51208_bedroom_eyes_2bw

Not too bad either. Anyways, I took this picture because I didn't take a picture of me in my black dress skirt, black tights and black high heel pointy-toed shoes. I forgot to take that picture. See I don't wear skirts very often. They are a nuisance. I have to remember to keep my legs closed or crossed, movement isn't as easy and the inevitable wearing of tickets that make my legs itch. Anyways, I think I've spent entirely too much time on narcissim for the evening. Can I just say one last thing...my legs looked pretty hot in that skirt though. :)

51308_suicculent_florida_oranges

5.13.08 - "Succulent Florida Oranges" - don't they look juicy, scrumptuous, mouth-watering, sweet? Oh yeah. They were. Fresh oranges I had sent up from Venice, Florida (on the gulf coast south of Tampa). Oh so sweet...just like me. :) LOL

51408_thomas_on_concentration

5.14.08 "Thomas on Concentration" aka Thomas playing expert on Guitar Hero on Wii. He's pretty serious about his playing. He's wicked fast too or as I say "crazy."

Happenings today...

in the life of crazyJen.

  1. Did a major overhaul of my office and our file cabinets at work. Very fun toting around boxes. I carried two at a time and the office ladies thought I was a female beef-cake. Ha, like those boxes were that heavy. I can carry two 50 lb. sacks of horse feed on my shoulders. City folks...
  2. Fed the animals. They must be getting stir-crazy 'cause they went nuts when I went home. 32808_thinking

Rocky, thinking...

Img_5301c

One of our barn cats lording over the yard. Seriously. She/He, not sure I didn't get a look, sitting in the hay loft watching outside. Looks like a little tiger.

  1. Helped Keddy (aka Kelly) with her invitations. Sorry no picture of that. During the process of cutting ribbon for the invites I managed to cut myself twice with a scissors. Yeah, once on my index finger and the next on my ring finger. Talk about a clutz.

Img_5312c

Kelly smiling...she was supposed to be sticking her tongue out in thought while trying to put together this invite. She's insubordinate. :)

Img_5317c

Paper hearts shaped in a heart.

  1. So I had some pictures of Kim but they are just of her big butt when she was pig piling on Thomas. Not appropriate for this blog.

So after the invitations we decided to go to the movies....to see 21 a movie about BlackJack. So we stop at the local Holiday Gas Station to get some water and candy for the movies. Yeah, I know we should buy it from the movie theatre but it's such a rip off and Kim's bag is huge, they never know.

Anyways, so Kim and I go into the store and I get a bottle of water and some Twizzlers Nibs and as I walk by a display I see that they have a limited edition Wild Cherry M&M's. I think well I won't eat them tonight but they might be worth a try so I grab a pack. I get up to check out and the following conversation with the clerk ensues:

Jen: Kim, did you see these m&m's. They ought to be worth a try huh? I love cherry.

Clerk: Those wild cherry m&m's aren't that good. I tried them. They said they were supposed to taste like a chocolate covered cherry but they don't.

Jen: Oh, well, that's not good. I'll try 'em anyways and if they are bad I'll just feed them to the dogs. Well, not really I'll just throw 'em away.

I'm done checking out so it's Kim's turn. She buys some other "normal" candy.

Clerk: (to kim) So I see you are going with the normal candy.

Kim: Yeah, just plain for me.

Jen: You don't know if it's normal though because they could be old and decrebit candies.

Kim: If they were I'd just bring them back. Well, not really. Did you know that people will bring back half eaten food to Cash-Wise (grocery store). Yeah, they eat half of it and then bring it back and want their money back because it doesn't taste right.

laughter

Jen: Yeah, like that's going to happen.

Clerk: Well I had a customer come in one time to return a cigar. Apparently this kid was trying to roll in some dope and broke the cigar so he brought it back and tried to return it.

Jen: He told you this?

Clerk: Oh yeah!

laughter from all parties. :)
