Transformer's: Revenge of the Fallen

 

See this movie in the theatres! Seriously. It is a good summer blockbuster. Will it win dramatic awards...nope but it's a good movie to see. Lots of action, super funny and for all you fellas a little T&A. :)

I liked it. Was it as good as the first. Close but not quite. I will buy it on blu ray though. I've watched it twice so far and I'm going to the IMAX tonight so...my advice. See it in the theatres if you wait until it comes out of video you will be disappointed. That kind of action needs a big screen. :)

Watch this movie. It is awesome! Oh yeah. I want to see it again. I'll buy it. That's how much I like it and how good it is. Will it win an oscar, no, but it wasn't designed for that. If I had to say anything it's 1 part Bourne, 1 part Man on Fire so if you like those movies or just plain like some action and suspense, see this movie.

 

Seriously. See this movie. It's good. Liam Neesan as a bad-ass is awesome. You wouldn't think so looking at him but he is the ultimate bad-ass. That's all I'm gonna say. 

Gran Torino

 

Go see this movie. I'm making a definitive statement here. Normally I don't say that about a movie because everyone has different tastes but no matter what taste you have; good, bad, retarded, crazy...see this movie. It is good, no AWESOME! It's funny and dramatic and heartwarming and heartwrenching. Go see it. I already plan on buying it when it comes out. That's my ultimate endorsement, if I walk out of the theatre and know that I want to buy it or if I go to it more than once in the theatres.

I'm not going to give away any of the plot but I will say that I love Clint Eastwood, he's hilarious and mean at the same time. Not sure how that really works but it's so true. He doesn't even have that much dialogue, not really, but it's the grisled way he says it, his actions, mannerisms...that make this movie funny and dramatic all at once.

GO SEE IT! 

Twilight - the Film

So...the big question, "What do I think?" Honestly I'm having a hard time coming up with a definitive opinion. Seriously. I'm on the fence, truly. A stiff breeze could blow me either way and I'd fall off on one side or the other.

I liked it. It mirrored the book fairly well. I guess mirror is a strong word. More like it had the same feelings of the book. They didn't ruin that. Granted they skipped parts and rearranged and added some stuff but nothing that ruined the integrity of the author's intent.

It could have moved faster I think but the book was slow in the beginning as well. The acting could have been a bit better. It just seemed like acting. It could have felt more real. There could have been more of a connection. I mean there was a connection between the two actors but other than that it could have had a more realistic feel. I know, it's a movie but you get me, yeah?

Bella's Dad was hilarious. I didn't expect serious romantic drama mixed with some witty humor but there you go. Spoiler Alert! Case in point, Edward wants to meet Bella's Dad and when she tells her Dad he's busy cleaning his shotgun. Hilarious!

Actor to Character...they pegged Mike Newton to a t, Bella's Dad, Esme, Carlisle (although initially I wasn't sure), Alice and Emmett. Bella was fine but she seemd a bit too skinny for me (yes I'm looking at superficial too) and she seemed too vulnerable. I always pegged her as more strong and having more confidence but she didn't seem that way to me in the movie but then again that's my take.

What else? That's it for now. Any other opinons?

Sex and the City

Did you buy your copy of Sex and the City? It came out yesterday. I stopped at Best Buy on my way home and picked up a copy.

I am going to watch it with some girlfriends on Thursday. Should be a blast. I think one Cosmo drink could be appropriate.

I did this online quiz a couple weeks ago where you figure out which character you are and it said I was Carrie. I'm not sure if that's appropriate or not. I'd say I am a little bit of everyone. A little prudish (Charlotte), a little crazy (Carrie), a little tom-boyish/hard-core (Miranda), and a little sex-kittenish (Samantha)

the Punisher

I watched the Punisher the other night with my brothers, Chris and Nick. I had never seen it before. Yes, shocking, I know. Holy crap. Me...never having seen the Punisher. Scandalous.

Okay, let's get past the hysterics and get to the point. LOL

I loved that movie. It's got some good action, some nice twists, a nice chest and it's funny. My favorite part...where he pretends to torture the minion guy and he torches the steak to simulate burning flesh and then pokes the guy in the back with a popsicle because he's supposed to be feeling cold (the nerve endings are burnt off or something). I could barely contain myself. I think Chris thought I was on crack or something...but it was funny. I love that. This sort-of-serious action flick with funny parts.

Anyway, I should buy it. It's pretty frickin' good.

Tropic Thunder

I went to see Tropic Thunder with my Dad, my brother Chris and a friend, Ryan. Yeah, I laughed some but not the really deep in the gut laughter. You know, the laughs that are from something truly funny.

Tom Cruise was f'in hilaroius! Seriously, he was funny. I could barely contain myself. I won't say much but he was funny. His costume was like....an accountant mixed with a hood rat mixed with Austin Powers. You have to see it. Hilarious.

Other than that, it wasn't that impressive. I won't buy it. Too bad...I hate dut movies. Ah well, you win some you lose some. I'm sure there will be somebody out there who won't agree with me but ah well. :)

Death Race

I went to Death Race with Chris last night. A lot of action, a lot of chatter, Jason Statham half naked, violence, car chases, gatlin guns...obviously not a chick flick, well, with the exception of a the half naked part. I liked it. I'm not sure I'd buy it yet. It was okay. I love car movies so the action peaked my interest but I'm not sure it's something I'd want to buy. I'm on the fence. That's all I can say. I'm on the fence.

Movies you can't NOT watch.

I read a post on Cathy Zielske's blog this morning about Movies you can't NOT watch. So if you are flipping through the channels (which I honestly don't do much b/c I haven't been watching much TV lately) and a movie comes up you just can't not watch. You have to. You are physically glued to the station. No more channel surfing. No matter what is going on you have to watch this movie.

So that got me to thinking what movies do that for me. Here's my list which could get long but I'll keep it short.

1. Bull Durham - too many one-liners to count or even list that I use all the time. I'll just say one. "Meat."
2. You've Got Mail - classic romantic comedy for emailers. "if I knew your name and address I'd send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils."
3. The American President - Michael Douglas and Annette Benning. Awesome. Perfect presidential couple. great dialogue. "People drink the sand because they don't know the difference."
4. Forrest Gump - love this movie. I went to the Bubba Gump restaurant and knew all the answers to their trivia questions. love this movie. plus one of the main characters is named "my Jenny" although her personality isn't mine. "shrimp creo, shrimp on a stick, coconut shrimp, boiled shrimp, broiled, baked..."
5. The Fifth Element - "multi pass!", the fight scene were LeLu kicks the cr#p out of the Mangalores (sp?) while the Diva is singing. Love the fight scene, love how it coincides with the music and love love love the music. (think I could write love one more time?) ok. love the movie.
6. Man on Fire - can I just say this movie is a diamond in the rough. Denzel is great as the wounded man. (emotionally/mentally) Him on the war path, the rage...cleverness.
7. Tommy Boy - "Fat man in a little coat." "Richard, were you watching spanktra vision?" "It doesn't hurt here or here but right here." Need I say more?
8. Clueless - yes, I know but it's a funny movie. It cracks me up. She's such a nutbag. "She's so adorably clueless we've got to adopt her." There are so many one-liners that came out of that movie that teens used, you have to have this movie on here.
9. Predator - yep, that hot and sweaty jungle kill-or-be-killed movie is at the top of my list. the end part where he preps all those traps for the predator. gotta love that. oh and when they mow down the forest trying to get it, can't beat that. the ammo involved just staggers me. jessie ventura with the gatlin gun, sweet!
10. It's a Wonderful Life - classic Christmas movie. Jimmy Stewart is the man. The whole idea behind the movie, what would life be like if you weren't born, awesome!

The Dark Knight

The Dark Knight. It was good...great. I really liked it. I'll buy it when it comes out. It's good. Very Dark. Very long. A thinking person's movie. They push the moral and humanity button until it breaks. It really makes you think about humans, crime, craziness and what makes a person tick. It goes round and round about what a hero is, what makes a hero and how close a hero can be to a criminal. (there's more but this post would be way too long)

Awesome action sequences. Seriously cool. Some stuff I've never seen before. I want to see it again, maybe on the IMAX.

The joker is awesome. He steals the show. He's everything the critics say he is. Awesome! What more can I say?

There are a couple funny/witty parts in there, snuck in of course. I laughed but nobody else did but that's usually the case.

So my suggestion, see it on the big screen if you get a chance.
