Back at it: Scrapbooking Art Journal

I did a couple scrapbook pages yesterday. Yes, it's been a very long time. I, to tell you the truth, have not been in the mood and when I'm not in the mood there is no point in forcing the issue because then I'd be wasting my time.

So I did a couple pages I thought you might want to see. Here is my album of other images I did for this Art Journal

Operation_20_3_words

Operation 20: Myself in 3 words: Tenacious, Creative and Passionate. Those are the very first words that came in my head. The very first. I couldn't even think of anything else.

Tenacious and creative are basically self-explanatory but passionate I think I want to explain. I mean passionate as in I feel passionate about things; my family, love, life, photography...stuff like that.

Um...I'm loving this picture of my eyes too. I've been looking for a reason to use it. The first word I think of when I see it is provacative, second; intense, 3rd; "I want you to want me...." (bonus points if you know the song and band who sings it)

Operation_24_water

Operation 24: Water - Nothing exciting here. I just love this picture of the Gulf from Siesta Key in Sarasota, FL. the Journaling is simple it just says, "Paradise. I love the ocean...the smell, the feel the sounds...water*seashore." Nothing soul-searching or intense.

Operation_25_play

Operation 25: Play - The journalling says, "Things that make me laugh, enjoy life, play, have fun and smile."

Operation_25_play_detail

"my niece and nephew, a new friend, my fam., a good movie, a witty joke, vacations, feeling good, pinochle, a bike ride (motorcycle), my ipod, taking a good picture, mini  golf and the Twins." those were the first things in my head.

I was in a scrapbooking mood

So here are a bunch of layouts I did tonight and on Monday night.

This first one I did for Emily's Art Journal Challenge called Life and I used a Pencil Lines Sketch.Sketch78

Here's the sketch.

So then there is Elise's weekly challenge. I love the challenges she gives. The words always seem to give me really good ideas or I think to journal something that I normally don't. Isn't that what it's all about?

Operation 14: Looking Forward

Operation_14_looking_forward

Here's the title detail

Operation_14_title_detail

Here's a detail of the bottom right corner. I used a Heidi Swapp flower rub-on then a Making Memories postage sticker that points left.

Operation 13: Spring

Operation_13_spring

Yeah, it's kind of crazy but I was excited for spring so I used a lot of color and flowers and a bit of craziness because I have the winter blues or whatever it's called.

Operation_13_spring_title

Spring, bring it on baby.

here's the journalling. I know it's a bit difficult to read but i like to write on top of pictures sometimes and this was the perfect one.

Operation 12: Luck

Click on the image to see a close up. The Journalling says "Vegas was a lucky place for me. My family & I went to the Price is Right at Bally's and I was chosen to spin the big wheel and I won $250 cash! It was so awesome. Seriously cool! I could barely think straight and I couldn't see because the lights were so bright. I'll never be so excited again."

Operation 11: Habit

Operation_11_habit

Journalling says "This year I've started a new habit. I joined Flickr, an online photo sharing site and I joined a group called Project365. A group that posts a picture everyday. I take a picture everyday." My new habit.

Elise's Challenges

Elise's paper adventure challenges for the last couple of weeks were:

Operation 10: Got Talent, list a talent you believe to possess. Toughy, really but as I'm infatuated with Photography I chose that. I love to do it and believe I take good pictures. I do have a lot to learn but I'm on my way.

Operation_10_got_talent

I used some different papers here: Wild Asparagus is the black patterned and blue strip on the left. Elsie's Line for the camera strip and some American Crafts white spongey letter stickers. I used Luxe circle rub-ons as well.

Operation 9: Take it or Leave It

I wrote down a piece of advice that a very good friend of mine once told me and it's so true. Read the Layout to find out.

Operation_9_take_it_or_leave_it

Pat was my senior by about 30 years when I worked at the Law Firm during College. We would go on bike rides and go to the movies together. She was a great friend and mentor. I miss her so much. She was a delightful boss and a wonderful friend.

Operation 6: Color

I took a couple pictures of some stuff in my room that were colorful.

Operation_6_color_all

Here's the detail.

Operation_6_color_pg_1

Top left to right and down: Red fake animal skin bag I got from Bath and Body Works one Christmas. My green summer co-ed softball team shirt. My orange xyron sticker maker. A beautiful picture of Tampa Florida I took last year. A small yellow legal pad full of stuff I need to get done. A purple ornament on my fake tree.

The journalling. I love the letter stickers on the right. Aren't they fun and cool? I need to buy some more I think. :)

Random Scrapbooking

I stole some time last night to do some quick 'n dirty scrappin'. I haven't done it in awhile. I've been in a scrapbooking drought. Yeah, that's right, a drought. I'm so dry I'm a prune, a raisin, a dried piece of fruit. Let's face it I'm more fruity than say beef jerky or something. :)

Okay, here we go. p.s. I posted these on Elise's PaperAdventure blog.

Operation 7: Make a Bold Statement

the journalling: "all you need is love" "love is what I need. I need to feel loved, show love, see love and experience it. life is nothing without it."

Operation 8:Something Old

Img_4524c_2

titled "Old Barn"

Img_4527c

Journalling reads, "I have many memories of playing in this old barn, cahsing the barn cats, climbing up into the hay loft and looking out the window, falling through a hole in the loft and being saved by a mere shoelace. little girl adventures, even I remember feeding the pigs way back.

Random in 2008: the Little Things

Elise's challenge this week was "the little picture" which I interpreted as take something small, a snapshot, a little detail and run with it. So I happened to be thinking about my little brother Nick tonight. Not sure why but I did a layout using one of my favorite pictures of him. Instead of me waxing poetic just read the journalling that says it all.

Img_2503c

Img_2504c

top part of journalling

Img_2505c

bottom part of journalling

the paper used was a print of the side of a barn. I weathered the edges and sandpapered the sheet because it was too crisp and the picture doesn't support that. I roughed up the heart as well.

Art Journal: My Choice: My Faults

Here is my take on Em's challenge for the week. It was "YOW-your own word" so I chose Faults. I chose this word because my sister and I had a conversation awhile back about if people recognize their own faults. I know I do. It wasn't hard for me to come up with 10 of my faults. In fact it was hard to narrow them down to the 10 I dispised the most. I am the first to admit that I am not perfect. Hell no. Perfection is boring, who wants to be perfect? Not me. While I despise my faults I also encourage them because they make me only that much more human and it makes life interesting. I would be severely boring if I thought I was perfect and dare I say it, a bit of a hypocrite.

Basically I chose 10 to list. People who know me and read this will, I'm sure, disagree and say I didn't list something that should be on there or I completely am on crack about another but this is what I think not what anyone else thinks and that's how I designed the layout.

So here's my layout.

Img_2500c

Img_2502c

I used black and white as a color scheme because I wanted to be frank, no pretense, no embellishment, just plain straightforward. The mixed patterns symbolizes all of my differences. The left hand-side has a jagged strip which for me shows my edgy, razor-sharp side.

after I finished this I thought maybe I should follow-up with a list of 10 things that I like in myself just to keep the balance. what do you think?

art journal 2008

I started an Art Journal for 2008. There are several of them out there but I chose to follow Emily Falconbridge's so far. I might add pages from other influences like Elise Blaha paper adventures or I might just think up something on my own. Anyways...here are some pix of my album so far.
