Fall Adventure Mini Book 2011

I finished my Fall Adventure Mini Book during the scrapbooking retreat up in Nisswa and I'm finally going to post them.

This is the book. A 5x7 or thereabouts board book that I painted red and added an apple on the cover. I'm probably going to put a title on the front but I haven't yet figured out how I want to do it so I'm leaving it blank for now.

Front page. I used the wood grain heavy duty transparency and put some appropriate stickers on them. I was waiting patiently for the right moment to use that wood grain/bark transparency. This was perfect.

Here's a close up. The stickers are from Jillibean Soup. Love here collections. They are cute without being crazy and are easy to use.

Page 1. I love these apples. Since it was a fall adventure...and we went to the apple orchard I figured might as well have them front and center.

I started with a journaling page and the picture of our group.

The next section was picking apples. I love this picture because it shows a full grown red apple and smaller greenish one. I love the contrast.

Technically I messed up...this little bit of journaling should be on the next page but I messed up. Damn.

See what I mean. Thank "thankful" comment should be on this page. Damn.

The paper I used for the edging has names of different apple types on it. I thought that was cute. It's Jillipean Soup too.

I used three different kinds of paper to do the eding. The green paper that was checked, the paper with the different types of apples on it and some yellow polka dot paper.

 

I know the picture above is kind of blown out in the background but I really like it that way. It's warm and golden and feels like a picture from the 70's

sorry this one's blurry. I love that picture of Gracie's hands. it's cute.

Pumpkin picking. I didn't really mean to put the picture vertical and the journaling horizontal but I wanted to keep the order of the pictures this way.

Project Life 2012: Week 7

Here we go, Week 7! Valentine's week! I used a lot of red in this one. It was just an excuse to break into some of my cool Valentine's supplies...of course I wasted a lot of time digging through all of it to find the perfect items...then I spent time agonizing over what I wanted to use the most...which is not the idea of this project. The idea behind the project is to get stuff done in a limited amount of time. I'm failing in that instance but achieving milestones in actually keeping up with this project. So I'd say it washes out. :)

Page 1 and 2. The first page uses the 4x6 vertical page protector then I added an insert of the baseball card page protector then I have one 8 1/2 x 11 page protector then my final page. :) I think I should just get used to the idea of doing more than two pages a week. I just have so many pictures. :)

Page 1: Notice I blurred out a picture of my mother in the hospital. Sorry, not gonna show that on my blog. That would be mean. I did, however, show pictures of my Dad becuase he's a goof. LOL

Notice the heart theme going on? LOL I went a little crazy there but it's Valentine's week. :)

Love this paper. Seriously. It's so cute. I just inked the edges with Staz On Red, then with a little black, then added a black penned in border.

It's easy to be able to go right to the source instead of having to google it myself. I don't have any advertisers or anything so I'm not being financially compensated by doing so. detail on the hospital visit. On the right Dad is messing aroudn with the machine that was hooked up to mom to keep track of her oxygen levels, heart rate, etc. Dad was messing with it to see what his rates were compared to Mom's.

Page 2 - All devoted to Pre-Valentine's stuff.

Up close image of the journalling. I just used a piece of Valentine Paper that had journaling lines and cut it to fit my baseball card page protector.

I love this picture. I think it's cool. I couldn't not have it in my book. I cut the picture down to make sure that the focal point in the upper third corner was the heart-shaped cookie cutter. :)

Close up of the tasty and beautiful cookies I made using my Grandma's recipe. They really are quite good.

A picture of Nick's valentine card that I dropped off with cookie. I spent about an hour dropping off everyone's cookies and cards on Valentine's which was a huge feat because there are 8 houses all across the county (Simon's in Ellendale, Nick in Blooming Prairie, Jamie on Cty Rd 45, Kimmie on South side of Owatonna, Chris, Auntie Sheila and Jimmy all within a couple blocks of each other on the South Side of Town, and Michelle on the North side of town.)

Page 2 and 3

Babysat the Kidlets on Saturday night so that got it's own page. Lots to do and tons of pictures to choose from.

A close up of the journaling. The letter stickers are October Afternoon. I love that company. I've been using them more and more. They are beautiful, simple and not too crazy. I don't generally like loud and obnoxious stickers and papers unless I can cut it up and use parts of it. LOL

Pictures of Jack doing what he loves...playing with legos (his cash register I bought him LOL) and coloring/drawing. He is so good at it too. He's only 6 and he's so good at it. I might have to find some good drawing books for him or sign him up for a class of some sort.

This is Jack's suitcase. He packed, toys, legos, 5 one-dollar bills, a package of t-shirts, some underwear, a book, a tractor...um...some other miscellaneous stuff. LOL

A couple pictures of Gracie sleeping, coloring and eating her Cheese Pizza. She knew exactly what she wanted at Perkins. Pizza...even though I didn't think they had pizza but she knew.

This is just a 8 1/2 x 11 page protector that I put in the Valentine's I got. The white envelope was a copy of the one I made for my loved ones, the striped heart was from Jack and the Hot card was from Jayde. On the inside it says, "So hot that the box of gourmet chocolates has melted." It was cute.

This is the card Auntie Sheila made. I used a picture from Christmas that I took of them and then photo-shopped in the dog. Can you tell? I even added a shadow to mirror that of the shadows on everyone else in hope's that it would be close enough so that you couldn't tell. So...can you tell?

The last page using a page protector with 6x6 sections. I cropped the pictures to 5x5 then glued them down in the corners so that it would look like a frame around the outside. Then I added the 3 hearts to keep it a bit cozy or I'd like to think it's cozier. :)

Jacob's first cookie. I gave him a little baby heart cookies to eat since he's little. He two-fisted it into his mouth but only ate a small piece. Then he put it back on his tray and then tried to pick it up but it stuck to his finger. So he ended up double-fisting it again to get the rest of it in his mouth. It was cute.

Me and my nephews on Twilight: Breaking Dawn: Part 1. Both babies were together so naturally I needed to get a picture with them. I can never seem to get both of them to smile at the same time.

Korby on the left (in the Batman shirt I bought him for Valentine's day) and Jacob to the right. Too cute little babies so very different from each other. Jacob is smaller and squatter. Korby is heavier and taller. Jacob has slightly curly hair and Korby does not. Korby has long fingers and Jacob has cute little sausage fingers. LOL Korby drools enough to sink a ship and has teeth, Jacob doesn't drool and has no teeth. LOL They were born a couple days a part.

Halloween Mini Book 2011

I finished this book at the scrapbooking retreat up in Nisswa a couple weeks ago and this post is going to contain pictures of the pages. I was pretty excited to get the book done in a day.

The cover.

inside page: I called it Halloween Weekend because the whole weekend was basically spent doing Halloween-type-things.

Page 1 and 2. I started with our Halloween Pumpkin Carving party.

The journaling. I used a piece of lined paper that I used in last year's album that I just love because it's got orange, green and black lines.

Just some pictures of the pumpkins we used from Mom and Dad's Pasture. This year I figured why buy when we could use our own. One thing I'll have to remember though is to bring them inside for a night bccause they were ice cold and hard to cut and clean. LOL Live and Learn.

Guy decided to us an electric saw to cut off the tops. LOL

This is one of my favorite pages because Jack is carving his "Jack-O-Lantern". I liked the play on words.

The next section is costumes. Halloween was actually on a Monday so we went out on the town Saturday night after pumpkin carving. Here are some of the costumes from the night.

That's Kimmie in the marshmallow man costume...I added some marshmallow poop at the bottom because I kept teasing her that she should carry around mini marshmallow's and throw them behind her like stay puft poop. LOL

 

The next section is trick or treating. I start it off with some costumes of family and friends right before trick or treating and then I show the candy I gave out and the special bags I made for family and friends.

 

I loved making this journaling page. I tried to tell a story with it. The bats flying above, the house and the black fence along the bottom with the cat walking on top of the fence. (Reminds me of an old Halloween Disney cartoon with Donald Duck and Huey, Dewy and Louie.

Goober aka Tristan in his football costume. I gave him the trick or treat smell my feet line because he'd be the most likely kid to actually say it to somebody. LOL

Loved Korby's costume. It was the cutest. :)

Gracie in her Tangled costume. I love this picture because it looks like she is twirling.

Jack in his Woody costume. I believe Michelle got this on Etsy. Pretty cool isn't it?

Auntie Sheila and her Cruella de Ville costume with matching dog, naturally. :)

The bags of candy and gifts I made up for my family and friends.

Each bag I made had a specialized outside label with her kids name. This one is a picture of Jacob's.

Here's the candy that I handed out at Michelle's house. I try to get a good variety and let the kids who come up to the door grab whichever piece they like instead of just putting pieces in their bags. I figure why give away candy that they won't eat. Might as well let them grab it themselves.

Update

I updated  my blog a little bit yesterday. I updated the Pages section on the left-hand side. The pages section is a great reference for some of my favorite things like movies, scrapbooks, photography albums, etc. I updated the scrapbooks section. You just click on scrapbooks and then it takes you to a page with links to my scrapbooks. There are also other pages like websites I freqent, bloggers and artists I follow, tv shows I watch, etc. Just thought I'd let you know.

Right now I'm working on getting some more posts completed as well as a new blog header. I have a really good idea for it so I hope I can execute it well. :)

Project Life 2012: Week 6

I am a little behind with week 6 but I am posting it now. :) 6 weeks of doing the same thing each week is a pattern and now a habit! I'm so happy I've made it this far because I am really loving this project. It's so much fun. It takes work. It takes persistence. I have to constantly remind myself to take pictures and now I am actually thinking of things I want in each week. Getting ideas during the week helps me to not spend as much time figuring out which pictures I'll pick and where I'll put them and which squares/rectangles are going to be journaling.

So here we go.

Both pages. I just stuck with two pages this week. I seem to like to add in extra pages a lot...but I was thinking. I have a ton of family and activities and two pages just doesn't cut it a lot of the time. I just need more. Like they say, "Everything's bigger in Texas" well Everything's bigger as a Harbal. :)

Page 1: I chose the pink polka dotted paper (Making Memories Je t'adore) because Valentine's was early for me this year. I got flowers on Thursday and I went on a Valentine's Date on Saturday. So I wanted to feature that for the week. I also tried to get more pictures of me instead of food and other people. After all it's my project life album. Although I love including other people and what I see and do.

I did a combination of journalling by hand and journaling on the picture itself.

I used chalk-finish ink for the edging and a red pen for the border. I also used a Fiskars postage punch for the backing behind the heart. The heart is patterned paper that I can't remember who makes. LOL

Love the "Game Face" sticker I found for my pool shot.

The Grey 3.5 stars out of 5. I think most people do 4 stars but that seems like an "odd" number. Instead of writing about the movie I had to write about the experience at the theatre that night. It was just so appaling that it overtook the movie itself.

 

Notice at the top of the Vince Flynn book picture that I have some white space. I intentionally and sometimes unintentionally do that so I have some space for journaling and embellishments. It's kind of nice to have some space that doesn't go over the top of the picture. Although sometimes I like to cover up things in pictures. LOL

I wasn't going to put the pool picture in but I figured I don't get a whole lot of me in a lot of the time because I'm always behind the camera so I included this shot.

The journaling at the right is some photo booth pictures from my droid phone app on top of white cardstock. I bought some clear stamps that have the days of the week and used those here to document a little bit about each day.

I added a downtown Minneapolis picture because I think it's nice to get some scenery every now and then. I like to mix up my pictures. Here I've got a landscape in black and white and a up close shot of a pool table with balls and some journalling.

I took the picture of the pool time precisely to use as a background for journaling. I thought it would be cool. I was going to set up the cool shot I made at pool on Friday night but I never got around to it. Maybe I will another week.

Page 2: I used the 4x6 vertical page protector this time because I didn' have as many pictures and I wanted to focus on a couple larger pictures instead of a bunch of smaller square pictures. Although I did turn the 4x6 in the upper right corner into two pictures sized at 2x3 inches horizontally. I like that I have the ability to do that and get more pictures on if I need to. Also, by scaling it to 2x3 I'm not losing any of the original image.

My flowers from Thursday. Pre-Valentine's which is cheaper. The journalling is actually from the card that was with the flowers. So I cut it up and glued it on the bottom of the picture. I stapled on the felt heart as well.

This isn't a very good image but I liked the picture and put it in here anyways...he's so cute and happy most of the time. He loves splashing in the water too and playing with his rubber ducky.

I love these two pictures which was why I put both of them on here instead of having to choose one. I added the writing in Photoshop.

OMG this is the meal I had at Cupcake in Minneapolis. It's on University right off Hwy 280. OMG I LOVE THEIR FOOD! Their cupcakes are to die for and their food is fabulous. I tried a new cupcake this time, the Tree Hugger and I wasn't disappointed. It was tasty. I mean really good. I kept picking at the food nibbling away because I didn't want to eat too fast and waste it. LOL I had grilled cheese too with Tomato Basil soup. Damn that was tasty. I wish there were a store close to where I work so I could go there often.

I grabbed one of their menus to take with me and cut out the description of the cupcake. The menus were available to take in case you thought I just swiped a menu. LOL

This is the big journalling page I did just for Saturday since it was such a busy day filled with a ton of things: DUV, Shopping, more shopping, Cupcake, Pool, Movies, etc.

I used a journalling paper from Making Memories then glued it onto a piece of the pink polka dotted paper I used for the week 6 on page 1. I thought it would add a little bit of continuity between the two pages. I used some clear typewriter stamps for the title and journalled with a black pen. I thought it was cute and kept with the Valentine's theme and mirrored the week 6.

Hi! That's me. I cut out the cupcake logo from their menu. I thought it was fun. I am really getting into taking business cards and menus and receipts to add to my pages. I think it adds something nice and then I don't have to journal quite as much (case in point, the description of the cupcake). It gives the pages some variety. Although I need to be careful because sometimes it's just a bit overwhelming...but then again these aren't meant to be congrusive pages. Get pictures from the week in, a bit of journaling and leave it at that. :) So far so good.

Project Life 2012: Week 5

I realize that I am a week late in getting this post in but I've been a tad bit busy and it took me awhile to get this post done because I had SO many pictures to post through since I went on a trip with my Mom and sisters over that weekend. So this post is a bit bigger than usual. I might have gotten a bit carried away... :) (insert sheepish grin)

Page 1 and 2 represent everything that happened during the week except my trip. :) If you notice the black circles I had to block some stuff out that I can't show the entire planet. :)

Page 1: Week 5 - Sorry about the blackouts. I just couldn't post some of this on the web. Usually I don't censor but some things I have to. :)

Week 5. I liked using the raised dot paper because it was bright pink and I could rub black ink on the edges to make it stand out more. (I used pink because of the Delta Phi Scrappa scrap weekend.)

Loved this movie. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. I put stars by it to indicate my love of the movie and a rating. I will totally buy it.

This is the detail of the writing on the Sick section. The page protector is 6x12, so I put the 6x6 picture on the right side and put journalling on the left. I had to put the text conversation on there because I thought it was absolutely hilarious! Then I put the detail of the week on there as well.

Comic section. I didn't put it on because I copied someone else's work and didn't know who to credit so I didn't want to show it on my blog.

This is the journaling for the bottom column of pages. The "Fun Stuff" is an old Karen Russell phrase sticker and the "COMIC" is from October Afternoon 5 & Dime. I love them. There new stuff is the shit.

Page 2 of the week. Sorry it's blurry.

FOOD! I had to use this journaling page (from Smash)because it was so fitting. Almost the whole page was about Food. I should probably get away from doing so many pictures of food but I like to show what things I enjoy eating.

The Laundry journaling is actually a picture. I took a picture of the Laundry sign from the Laundromat then added the journalling underneath it. - P.s. The owner makes THE BEST turkey sandwich ever! Every time I get it I gobble it down like it's my last meal. It's that good. It's called Fireside Coffeebeans and Laundry in Owatonna, MN. I can't find a link or I'd post it.

Page 3 and 4. This starts the Delta Phi Scrappa (DPS) weekend. I broke out the pages into sections. So there is a Travel section, a food section, a scrapping section and our hotel section.

Page 3. Travel. Used an old tag and cut it down to size for the journalling. I can't remember where I got it from but I thought it was appropriate. The word stickers were from 7 gypsies.

Kimmie the road napper. I took this picture with my phone and turned it into a Polaroid. Sorry about the blur.

I had to get in a close up of the loaded down Yukon. We had it strategically packed to the hilt! Everything fit in there and nothing was squashed or wrecked. (That would be me doing the packing.)

Page 4...all about Food! My family has a love affair with food. We love it...which is why most of us are not exactly the skinniest people on the planet.

I think this journalling tab is October Afternoon but I can't find it anywhere online. Dang. I chronicalled some of our food exploits but not all because I just didn't have the room.

Breakfast at the Grand View Lodge is my absolute favorite. They have fresh fruit and awesome scrambled eggs...I think their bacon could use a little work though but then again I'm a bacon snob and am very particular about my bacon.

Page 5 & 6. I did some more pictures on the left of the hotel room at Grand View Lodge in Nisswa, MN

My favorite part of the room. This comfy reading chair.

I typed out journaling this time because it was going to be so large that I didn't want to write it out by hand plus I could put the ephemera to the right of it. I just used a 8 1/2 x 11 page protector to put the journalling in.

I created this title mirroring the DPS one.

Peanut Baby aka Jacob aka Little Thomas aka LT

Just thought I'd post some pictues of my cute little nephew Jacob.

My peanut of a nephew. He's so cute. It looks like he's rubbing his baby belly.

p.s. That's my foot on the left.

Staring up at me from the baby gate...he's in baby jail. He crawls really fast now and would probably escape into the kitchen and play in the kitty food or water if they didn't put him in baby jail. LOL
