League of Heroes vs. Remax
Our game on Tuesday (yeah, I know it's Thursday already. I'm a bit late.) was a blast. It was super awesome. It was. Our first inning was enough to make a 60 year-old tough-as-nails, uber macho, ex-Vietnam Veteran cry. It was enough to make me forget about the crappy weather (yeah it was 49 degrees F, windy and it rained a little.) It was just enough.
We almost got through the batting order twice in the first inning. So does that tell you anything? We scored 11 runs in the first inning. Yeah, we were hitting like we'd never hit again, like we were playing for all the marbles, like we were on fire...it was beautiful. We hit the ball hard, found the gaps, burned 'em, the whole enchilada. Now, I will say that they had a lot of fielding errors too so we didn't get those 11 runs entirely on our batting abilities but good base running helped us because we took advantage of those errors.
Personally, I hit twice (I bat #4, clean up which seems a little strange to me but hey so far it's been a good spot for me.) and got a true double and a hard single.
The outfielders on the other teams, with the exception of one team, continue to be bone-heads. Every single time they see a girl step up to the plate (even the girl outfielders) they move waaaaay up like to within 10-15 feet of the infield. All this does is tick me off. Do I look like I can't hit? Pay attention to body language people. You're killing me Smalls! So what do I do...burn 'em and hit their gaps. Even after that they still stay in the same place. Sheesh...well, in all honesty I shouldn't complain because I get a ton of hits off their stupidity so I guess it's a blessing but at the same time it's an insult to me.
So anyways the night went fairly well. We slowed down considerably after the first inning but continued to get a couple runs and they scored 5 runs in their first inning. I believe we ended up 10 running them in the 5th. I believe the final score was 16-5. I'm going to double check that when I get home though.
